A Refreshing Approach to Historical Fiction

Novels by J. Winfield Currie

Hard to believe that almost 1/2 the year has come and gone, and with the Summer Solstice on June 21st, daylight hours again begin to shorten. I took it to be an ‘age’ element until chatting with a few of the younger generation: they agree. Must be this crazy world we live in … always running in circles like a cat chasing its tail. If you tend to agree, check out one, or hopefully both of my two new blog posts @

OMG, Chicken Little … The Sky is Falling! Poor ‘Chicken Little’, a storybook character from my childhood and the perfect poster child for today’s constant state of worrying about … everything! If you heed all the ‘warning chatter and advice’ accosting us from all sides, you’ll soon join Chicken Little – running in endless circles – accomplishing nothing. By embracing every externally generated ‘guideline’ without first considering its validity, we have been relieved of thinking for ourselves and bypassed the need to take personal responsibility for our actions. OMG, is common sense beginning to desert the masses? (Well, that’s the first paragraph, just another one of my ‘refreshing approaches’ to many things! LOL)

and: Thanks Dad, This One’s for You! Insight into perhaps one of the most influential ‘characters’ in my life, a soft-spoken man with a devilish sense of humor, whom I lovingly blame for urging me to be … me. Some of you may remember my dad and Currie’s Leather Goods in Norwell, Mass. Enjoy!

At the moment, “The ‘Beyond’ Trilogy” is on display @ Book Expo America 2013, in the New Title Showcase. The show opened yesterday, May 30, and runs through June 1, 2013 @ the Jacob K. Javits Center New York, NY. Checking out the New Title  Showcase Online Catalogue, I was pleased to discover that my book is one of only 14 titles in the Historical Fiction category.

As to the “Beyond All Reason” Screenplay status: No news to share as yet; hoping to see the first draft by the end of June. I’m trying to make patience a new virtue, but after a lifetime of lacking in that particular area, it’s tough – perhaps even impossible. 🙂

Until next month, Joan
