A Refreshing Approach to Historical Fiction

Novels by J. Winfield Currie

Happy Halloween everyone! I don’t know about you, but I’m more than eager for this holiday. As always, my broom is dusted off and ready to go, and heavy rain isn’t due until tomorrow! It’ll be clear sailing and everything is right with the world, or at least it is in Boston, Mass!

What about those Red Sox?! Whether you’re a fan or not, you can’t help but admire their incredible accomplishment this year: from worst to first! What a journey. That’s a perfect example of what passion, determination and teamwork can accomplish!

Wow! What a neat segue way to “Beyond All Reason”, my first novel – the one in which you were introduced to Kathryn Cameron MacLean, Colonel Jason Tarrington and Lieutenant ‘Jack’ Jackson. What a dynamic trio: the epitome of passion, resolve and … teamwork. Although there are many other unique characters interwoven throughout, this trio is the core around which all revolves.

Have you ever wondered how I arrived at that title? Perhaps not, but I’m going to tell you anyway. As a matter of fact, this bit of insight can be applied to many areas of an author’s work. We don’t always have control over our creations; they often take on separate lives of their own –  dictating to us.

I am going to be sharing more of my creative process, dissect characters and motives, and discuss why my books, although set in the Revolutionary War Era, are timely and relevant – even now in this ‘modern’ day and age.

Happy Thanksgiving and be well.

Until next month, Joan
